Tournament Tips and Information
One of the fun things at Tournaments over the past years has become raffling of jars donated by teams. There have been many creative ways individuals have come up with displaying items in jars—clear, plastic containers. Just because your team has solved their challenge and they have all their things ready to go to the tournament, do not let the creative juices stop flowing. Keep the juices bubbling in their brains. Come up with a creative jar of items to donate to the Jar raffle at the regional and state tournaments in South Dakota this year. Jars may contain any items the team wants to donate. (Hazardous items prohibited.) Some examples have been candy, shirts, school supplies, fun toys, noise makers, bubble bath, etc. Put your minds together and come up with at least one jar per team. Bring it to the Jar Raffle area (early in the day) near the sales area at the tournament. Individuals will be able to purchase tickets for the jar raffle throughout the day. Drawings for the jars will be held just prior to the awards ceremony. Tournament Registration2012 Global Finals Tournament RegistrationDear Team Managers and Coordinators, Keep sharing Fund Raising ideas. Some teams choose to pay a certain amount from families and then raise the rest; some teams choose to raise all they can and then parents divide the rest; some work to raise it all. Remember you want to practice too. Please let me know if you are applying to be a Buddy Team –(colored flyer in the folder) If you are selected then we will give you pins to give them and you will take something additional that represents your state to the other country. Last year SD had two teams chosen to be buddy teams—Turkey and China I think. 1. The Team Deal is a very, very, very good deal…please use this format to make sure your team members have what they need to enjoy the week there at Global Finals. The form will say Required for team members and optional for team managers. It is put together with the greatest of care so each part of the time on campus can be experienced. We came up with this several years ago as teams would get to globals without pins or towels or fun stuff because they didn`t see it as necessary…such disappointment and no way to recover the moment. This allows everyone to participate in all parts. (Extra pins are fun too if you can manage them.)Questions—please write to me. 2. The FANS form—we hope everyone in the delegation will get a t-shirt to match the team—and all the names of the South Dakota Champions are on the back ! Please give this form to each family to fill out for the shirt and extra things. Payments to me are due on or before the end of June….so you can deal with me when you get back if need be. Remember if you have a good fundraising idea, please send it to the entire group. (just click reply all to one of my messages to all of you.) Well, keep me posted or the group posted on your travel….several buses are in the process of being put together….let each other know …the more on the bus the less the cost.
